MISSION STATEMENT AND RULES FOR USING THE TAYLOR COUNTY LAW LIBRARY
MISSION STATEMENT – Establishment of a County Law Library is provided for by law, Vernon’s Texas Codes Annotated, Local Government Code §323.021. The objective of the Taylor County Law Library is to provide a reference-only (publications cannot be checked out by the public) research facility, which is supplied by major primary and secondary legal texts. It is our goal to support the practice and understanding of the law to county and court personnel and the public by providing access to the most relevant federal and state resources.
Though we cannot dispense legal advice, we encourage you to state your problem so we may try to direct you to the correct texts, and show you how to use those texts.
Rules and Fees – We have posted rules and fees for use of these texts and computers throughout the library. If you do not understand any rule, please ask us for further explanations. We reserve the right to conduct any computer research for you. Please do not disturb other patrons or try to obtain free legal advice from any attorney who may be present. Use of this library is contingent upon obeying any and all rules. If you do not think you have to obey these rules, you cannot use this library.
Attorney Referrals: We do not recommend attorneys. If you need a referral, please contact the State Bar of Texas at 1-800-252-9690.
DISCLAIMER NOTICE - Due to the constantly changing nature of the law, and the fact that the Law Library’s reliance on information compiled and provided by outside sources, we do not make any warranties or guaranties concerning the accuracy, reliability, relevance, currency or completeness of this information obtained at this site.
DISTURBANCES – Providing a quiet and safe place conducive for legal research is important to us. The Taylor County Law Library has zero tolerance for disturbances, disruptions, infractions of its rules (posted in various areas throughout this library), and any rude or disruptive behavior. This applies to adults and children. If you or your party engages in such behavior, we will ask you to leave, and if you do not, we will call Security to escort you off the premises. Any disturbance will result in an extended eviction period(s).
