Taylor County encourages citizens to be proactive with mosquito eradication. There are steps that the community can take to ensure management of mosquitoes like maintaining yards, drain any standing water and keep pet water bowls clean and changed out on a daily basis. The Texas Department of State Health Services recommends all citizens cover up with long sleeve shirts and long pants during peak mosquito season, and always wear registered insect repellents. Keep mosquitoes out with air conditioning or with intact window screens. Limit outdoor activities during peak mosquito times. Treat front and back door areas of your homes with residual insecticides if mosquitoes are abundant nearby.
