Road Closures

Dyess Joint Land Use Study (JLUS)
Dyess AFB is located in Taylor County in north-central Texas. The installation is within the city limits of the City of Abilene and is adjacent to the City of Tye. The JLUS Study Area encompasses lands in the vicinity of Dyess AFB that could be impacted by, or cause impacts to, normal operations that occur at the base, such as noise or safety associated with flight operations.

Local State of Disaster Declaration
Taylor County Commissioners' Court implemented a Local State of Disaster due to Public Health Emergency in an Special Called Emergency Meeting on March 26, 2020 at 2 p.m. after receiving a confirmation of one COVID-19 positive case. March 31, 2020 the Taylor County Commissioners Court extended its Declaration consecutively ever 30 days through December 2020, with continued efforts to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Taylor County. At this time, we encourage the community to follow the guidelines set forth by Governor Greg Abbott with wearing of the masks stated in the Governor's Executive Order GA-29, and continue to practice social distancing in public places and scheduled group gatherings more than 10 people. If you do not have to get out during the holidays, please protect yourself and stay at home.
