The "Civil Division", as its name implies, acts as a "server" of civil process documents, generated because of civil case litigation involving a Plaintiff and a Defendant/Respondent. Its officers also seize private property, under the Sheriff’s authority, and either sell it for the Plaintiff or turn it over to someone as ordered by a court.
Additionally, Civil Division deputies enforce "Writs of Attachment," where a court orders an adult or a child to be taken into custody and either brought before the court (or in the case of a child), or turned over to a parent or guardian. The officers also regularly post information about upcoming "Sheriff’s Sales" on the office’s Facebook page. Tax Sale information is posted at the Taylor County Courthouse, and on the Central Appraisal District’s website, www.taylor-cad.org.
